I went to a talk last night by Dr. Zach Bush who eloquently laid out the very difficult truths that people are either in denial about or too heartbroken over to take any action. There are many of us who want to be at the front lines of transformation although being there is crushingly overwhelming purely because of the scale at which change needs to happen. The most intriguing truth brought to light was the failure of humanity to stand up for and with nature. In other words, there is a deep and dark disconnect between our own nature and nature in general, and this has created a painful wound.

A wound that we are, unfortunately, treating with all the things we have been conditioned to believe are helping us. These things are in fact only reinforcing the wound, and we accept this because what other option do we have? The good news is that there is another way forward because if you just simply take note of words like ‘disconnect’ and ‘painful’ the solution is clear. The solution is obviously clear. However, it is going to take extreme courage and the belief in what is good to get us off our screens, out of the safety of our comforting homes, and into what we call NATURE.
So, we need to RE-CONNECT and HEAL.

Connection requires you to first delve headfirst into the murky waters below the surface of self because we have forgotten where we came from, who we are, and where we want to go. This is the connection that belongs to you and through which you can begin to honour yourself again. The healing has begun. Now you have a more helpful foundation on which to build connections with others, and with nature. As you continue on this path of building connection and healing you will experience obstacles and broken pieces. At this point, the responsibility will feel like a burden and you might get angry or resentful, you might even cry. All these responses are just what you need to fuel the process of becoming the human being your loved ones, your colleagues, and the planet needs you to be.

This cyclical process of reconnecting and healing is a constant and endless responsibility that will eventually feel like a noble action that will become the source of your drive to live alongside the very thing that sustains you – nature. Basically, once we begin to take care of ourselves, our families, and the communities in which we live we will begin to experience a hopeful present.
